From the Designer - Jackie MacDonald
A little about me…

Jackie's story begins in Virginia where she grew up surrounded by apple orchards and open fields dotted with Queen Anne’s lace and cows. Jackie recalls that " growing up, some of my favorite play things were paint chips and an old book of upholstery swatches". She pretended to take orders from her Mom and her Granny and would design shoebox houses for them decorated with swatches of fabric and cut outs of photos from the Montgomery Ward catalog. She was also a fashion designer, by the way… making simple doll clothes out of the scraps that her Mom gave her.

She grew up and received a degree in Family and Consumer Sciences which is the new name for Home Economics. She wanted to study interior design, consumer economics and learn to make lives more beautiful the same way. Paths stray and evolve, and she ended up working for many years as a buyer/merchandiser for a catalog and then later as a product manager for the development of consumer goods. This latter position gave her the first taste of what it meant to create bespoke artwork for product and she loved it. This career is what she always wanted to do…and she has never been happier with her work as it now matches her passion…creating beautiful artwork to nurture home and heart. Her style is illustrative, romantic, warm and sentimental. It is her heart’s delight to create art celebrating everyday magic.

Today, she lives in coastal Maine with her family.

Her goal is to grow her surface pattern design business, Sweetfire Road, with new licensing partnerships.
